Caviar and Salmon Roe on Crackers

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce black caviar 
  • 1 ounce salmon roe
  • 12-16 plain or gourmet crackers (preferably lightly salted, such as water crackers or rye crisps)
  • 2 tablespoons crème fraîche or sour cream
  • Fresh chives or finely chopped shallots (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh lemon zest (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Crackers

  1. Arrange the crackers on a serving plate. Make sure they’re flat and sturdy enough to hold the toppings.

Step 2: Add the Crème Fraîche

  1. Place a small dollop (about ½ teaspoon) of crème fraîche or sour cream on each cracker.
  2. You can gently spread it, leaving a mound that allows the caviar to sit comfortably on top.

Step 3: Add the Caviar or Salmon roe

  1. Top each cracker with a spoonful of caviar or salmon roe. 

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

  1. Garnish with finely chopped fresh chives, shallots, or a sprinkle of lemon zest for an added burst of freshness

Tips

  • You can experiment with different types of crackers, such as those with herbs, seeds, or a bit of garlic, to enhance the flavor.
